If you're like us, your pets become family members, it could be the best testiment to this dog that has just come in to your life, if you could look back in years to come and think this was the best dog we have ever owned, because of the time dedicated to train a furry critter to be your companion.
There are lots of dog owners that just survive having a dog, instead of being part of the family. Dogs that are not people or dog friendly, limits when and where the dog can go with you.
Dogs with no manners are generally not welcome in our friends or families homes.
Having a family friendly dog takes a great deal of patience, time, and hard work to achieve.
A Dog's ABCs can assist you develop:
- Manners that make them acceptable companions to share our home.
- The ability to welcome family and friends without greeting them with paws on shoulders.
- Coping skills when over anxious or stressed
- Appropriate alerts when others approach
- Understanding basics of reward based training
- Socialisation around people and other dogs
- Strategies to keep your dog positively entertained whilst home alone
The training that we give is reward based which has proven to be the most satisfying for both owners and dogs.
No slip collars or chains are to be used or worn by the dogs during our training sessions.
We put a great emphasis on working and using calming methods to attain results that are achievable by family members.
The dogs must always be on a secure lead.
Basic Courses have a maximum of 8 dogs per class per Instructor.
If more than one person from your family would like to attend please do so. If you intend to have your children accompany you, there is maximum of one child per adult not handling the dog.
The first class, an owner information session without dogs will run for 1.5 hours.
The remaining seven classes will be for 45 minutes one day a week, over 7 weeks.
Classes are held at two locations:
Nurioopta:
- TUESDAY Evenings 6.30pm and 7.30pm
The Nurioopta classes are held on the junior soccer oval. Penrice Road, Nurioopta
Gawler:
- SUNDAY Afternoons from 2pm
The Gawler classes are held at the Scout Hall, Jarvis Street, Willaston
The cost for the course is $120.00 it can be enclosed with the application form and payment sheet or paid at the information session.
Please bring your current Vaccination certificate with you. We will confirm your booking and time.
Basic Class Curriculum

Neat casual attire is ideal, comfortable shoes, no one handling the dog can wear thongs or similar for occupational health and safety reasons
